Dr. Wayne R. Hill
Wayne R. Hill, Ph.D., is a 14 year
veteran of the Dallas Police Department. In the field services
division he served first as a beat Patrol Officer and later as a
Special Operations Division, Tactical Team Leader and Hostage
Negotiator. His last four years of service was as one of the
Department’s Staff Psychologists.
Dr. Hill has been a training
specialist in criminal justice issues for over twenty years,
presenting numerous programs and seminars at criminal justice
agencies and training centers throughout Michigan and the nation,
including the
Macomb
Criminal Justice Training Center in Michigan, and The Police Officer
Standards and Training Council, Connecticut Police Academy located in
Meriden, Connecticut. He has presented programs for the Michigan
Association of Chiefs of Police, The Indiana Sheriff’s Association,
The Buckeye Sheriff’s Association, and others, including the National
Sheriff’s Association.
In 1978, Dr. Hill began private
practice and private consulting to criminal justice agencies. In
1980 he established Management and Behavior Consultants, P.C., a
professional service corporation. Dr. Hill is a licensed Clinical
Psychologist in Michigan, and maintains a
private practice. He specializes in treating police officers, their
families, and departments, frequently focusing on Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder, P.T.S.D.
In addition, Dr. Hill serves as the
Staff Psychologist to the Traverse City, Michigan, Police Department
and he is the psychological resource for pre-employment selection and
post traumatic event debriefing for numerous law enforcement agencies
throughout Michigan. In 1988, Dr. Hill developed the Peer Assistance
Program for the Pennsylvania State Police Member’s Assistance Program
and is currently their psychological resource professional, providing
new and updated training for Peer Assistance Officers each year.
Dr. Hill also assisted in the
development of curricula for the Crisis Negotiations Institute, which
is a part of the Lansing Community College Criminal Justice Training
Program, in Lansing, Michigan. He has taught hostage negotiations
classes at that institution and a number of other Criminal Justice
Training Centers.
Dr. Hill has published numerous
articles in national publications, as has co-written a book chapter
concerning psychological treatment of police officers. He has been
featured in a number of police training videos.
In 1977, Dr. Hill was inducted into Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, at
Southern Methodist University. He is an Associate Member of
Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society for Scientists.
Presently, he is a member of a number of professional associations,
including the American Psychological Association, The Michigan
Psychological Association, The American College of Forensic
Psychology, and The American College of Forensic Examiners, in which
he is a Diplomat in Clinical Forensic Psychology, as provided by the
American Board of Psychological Specialties.
