Aveni A.A.S., B.S., M.S.
Tom's law enforcement
career, which now spans three decades, has had him earn police
certification in three different
states (NJ, UT, NH), as
he has served as a law enforcement officer in
each, on the state and local levels.
Mr. Aveni currently holds an active
police commission where he works as a police officer, in the state
of New Hampshire. Tom has also served nearly fourteen years (active
and reserve) in the military.
Mr. Aveni holds AAS/BS
degrees in Criminal Justice, a BS in Psychology, as well as a
Master's degree in Forensic Psychology. He served as a
training coordinator for Smith & Wesson Academy from 1990-2001,
training in excess of 12,000 police, security and military personnel
from around the world.
Tom has maintained
active memberships in the National Tactical Officer's Association (NTOA),
the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET), the
International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI),
the American Psychological Association, and the National Honor
Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Tom's
contributions to the law enforcement community continue in his
writings concerning officer survival, and in his frequent
presentations before police training conferences. Mr. Aveni is
co-author of a comprehensive text ("Surviving the Nightshift") on
officer survival in reduced light. The book involves the contribution
of noted forensic vision expert, Dr. Paul Michel, and noted
criminologist, Bryan Vila, PhD.. Publication of this text is expected
in sometime in 2002.
