Donald J. Walter Esq.
Don Walter is an attorney,
professional risk manager and the President of Glomar, Inc., a risk
management and training firm. He is currently working as a regional
risk manager for a large governmental insurance pool located in
Michigan. Don’s daily tasks include assessing the risks present in
various municipal operations, with an emphasis in the law enforcement
and corrections field. He is also active in reviewing loss claims,
and in advising his clients on how to avoid future litigation and
employee injuries.
Don is a frequently requested
speaker at state and national law enforcement conferences, and has
consulted widely in the area of corrections and corrections caselaw.
He has published many articles on law enforcement topics, and is the
Editor of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Manual.
Don has been an attorney for
approximately 20 years, and specializes in governmental litigation,
protecting and advising his clients in ways to reduce risk in their
daily operations. He is a graduate of Michigan State University, and
of Cooley Law School, in Lansing, Michigan.
Don has published several
articles, and is the author of Suicide in Jails, Crisis
Intervention and Management, and Substance Abuse in
Corrections. He is also the co-author of The Jail Resource
Training Guide, and the Detention and Caselaw Catalogue.
